ADMISSIONS
ACADIA is committed to providing personalized, comprehensive and flexible programs and services which meet the specific needs of each participant. The emphasis on individualization and continuity of care enables individuals to move through the program at their own pace. The appropriate continuum of care is identified at the time of referral and continues throughout ACADIA's programming. Each potential individual is carefully assessed to determine whether or not enrollment at ACADIA is appropriate and if so, what type of services will be needed. Duration of programming will vary depending on the needs of the individual and availability of funding.

To benefit from the services offered at ACADIA, all individuals should meet the following basic guidelines:

- Be 18 years of age or older for residential services

- Be 14 years of age or older for Comprehensive Day Treatment (enhanced outpatient) services.

- Have a neurological disorder that impacts on physical, cognitive, behavioral, social or vocational functioning.

- Be medically stable and not require 24-hour medical care

- Be psychiatrically stable

- Not be actively using alcohol or other related drugs

- Not demonstrate a pattern of maladaptive behaviors that can be disruptive to the care of others receiving services

Additional information and detail on admission criteria are available upon request.

People are generally referred to ACADIA through a hospital case manager/discharge planner, physician, psychologist or other healthcare/human service provider, however, referrals may come from the family, schools and other state and local community providers. Referrals and ongoing communications can be coordinated through our Intake Coordinator. An initial screening can be scheduled to help determine if ACADIA’s services are needed and appropriate.
